What we're all about

Are you a student who is searching for more, something deeper than what society has to offer?  At Westwood, our youth ministry is designed to give students more than just entertainment and temporary fun.  We seek to take students from all backgrounds and all walks of life and develop  them into committed disciples of Christ.  Through student-oriented Bible studies and a variety of programs and activities, Westwood provides a place where students can grow in their walk with God while building a strong network of Christian friends.

A Typical Week

Every Wednesday night @ 6:00, our students meet in the "Youth House" for some food and fellowship.  Stocked with a pool table, Wii game system, and a ping pong room, the "Youth House" is specially designed so teens can let out a little energy and have a good time together before and after the Bible study. Refuel services start @ 6:30 with music, videos, games and a messege from God's Word.On Sundays at 9:30 a.m., youth Sunday School classes which are divided by gender and ages, meet in the youth house to dive into God's word.  Sunday School is a vital part of our ministries at Westwood and is a great opportunity for students to learn more about the Bible and how it applies to their lives.

    For the musically inclined (and even the musically challenged), the youth choir practices Sunday at 5 p.m.  The choir not only practices but also sings each Sunday in the evening worship service.  Under the direction of a fun yet sometimes crazy, minister of music named Jim, a good time is had by all at youth choir

Special Stuff

Youth Camp

Our Youth always spend one week each summer at a youth camp.  This year we will be attending Totally Consumed 2010 in beautiful Panama City Beach, FL.  We will be staying at the Laguna Beach Christian Retreat Center, which is located just off the beach.  This week leading worship will be the 2010 Dove Award Winner for Best New Artist of the Year, the Sidewalk Prophets.  Our camp pastor will be Al Paulson, and we have have guest speakers Zeb Cook and Jarrett Thomas.  This week promises to be a blast, and will challenge you to be more devoted to your walk with Christ.  We will be leaving for camp on 7/19/10 at 11am, and will return on 7/23/10 between 3:30pm-4:30pm.  If you are interested in attending camp please see Bro. Youth Choir

For the second year in a row, the youth choir attended Sonpower a youth choir recording project in Orlando. Throughout the week they  practiced songs, did some local mission projects and went to a theme park. join the choir on Sunday nights when they resume in September.

Other Activities

In addition to regular activities, there is normally a major youth event planned every several months.  For example, this past year our students participated in a fall  DiscipleNow weekend, attended a Spring Conference, and went on a mission trip.
